Kelly, you took the first step to not going down the path that I did by posting here and recognizing that it's going to take a little work after your vacay
to get back on track. I'd suggest stocking your house with veggies and fat free dip and whenever you feel like snacking, go for that. That said, I totally
agree on the 4 lb gain being worth a fun vacay.

Kelly, I would love to go outside and walk, one of my fav things to do--both at work, on the beautiful trails we have with the ducks and also on the green
trails near the river near my house. However, right now, we have 100 degree heat and heat index of like, 105 and stuff. Not conducive to going out there. We
have also had ozone warnings too--to stay out of the air as much as possible.
However, i still have my Curves membership. But, until my schedule settles down, i haven't been able to get a routine down and i personally think a routine is the key. Oddly enough, i ate breakfast and lunch yesterday and only had strawberries and banana for dinner since i was working on thesis. I lost 3 pounds from yesterday til today. Hey!
I've managed to have 3 good days. I've already noticed I'm feeling healthier. I made some YUMMY high fiber cookies last night. Here's the recipe: 1 package of low-fat brownie mix 2 1/2 cups of unprocessed wheat bran 1 cup of apple juice - Mix it all together - Each cookie should be about 2 Tablespoons - Bake at 375 for 12 minutes (I actually did it for 14) - The middles will still be soft - Store in an airtight container - 1 point each I ended up making two suppers tonight. Jim wanted tacos, and I knew that wouldn't be the best choice for me. So I cooked up some taco meat for him and let him make his own. I used the salsa, combined it with low-fat sour cream, and made a yummy veggie dip. Then I had some cherries and a DELICIOUS chicken breast from the George Foreman (I experimented with all sorts of spice rubs). I had 3 of the high fiber cookies for dessert/late night snacking...but I could afford the points. Things I need to work on: Drink more water...this one's always hard for me, any suggestions Exercise...I am going to the YMCA today! ..........Catch ya later. I have a huge cup that holds three servings of water that I keep at my desk at work. As soon as I get into work in the morning, I fill it with water. I usually
go through two of them during the day, which takes care of my daily water so that anything else I drink is just extra. Oh, and Crystal Light on the go packs
are your friend.

SO! It's been a week back on track and I have some good news...5.5 pounds gone! Alright!!!!!!! I realize the first week is generally your largest loss, but
I'm pleased nonetheless. I have never felt hungry, and I'm feeling SO good after 8 days. I made it through the weekend without going crazy, but next
weekend could be a different story (I'm going tubing). I know I need to work more exercise into my life, but I've been especially crazy lately (not a
good excuse...I know I need to make time). So, how's everyone else doing?

Still holding steady in the same three-pound range. I've plateaued after losing 25 lbs. I need to figure out how to kick my weight loss back in gear.

I lost another 6 lbs last week, bringing my two week total since starting back onto WW to 12 lbs. Woohoo!
Micah, WW has a "kickstart" program that is supposed to knock you out of your plateau by firing your metabolism back up. It's a one-week program where you limit yourself to 20 points per day and do NOT eat any activity points or weekly flex points. It sounds rough, but it's only a week and from what I"ve read on the WW boards, it really works. I'm saving that for when I hit my plateau (as we all inevitably do). But you might want to give it a try? It's only a week, so what's the harm? Lissa, congrats on your loss! Sorry I didn't email you back--I was hom in Michigan this weekend and it was a complete whirlwind! Have fun tubing and if you find that you're starting to eat crap food, at least make sure you don't eat too much of it. That's what I did this weekend while home. I tried to eat the best food available, but when I did have something not so great, I'd just make sure only to sample. |

I'm glad to see I'm not the only trying to get back on track!! Thankfully I have managed to fend off gaining back any of the 10lbs. that I lost, but I
haven't been putting in any sort of an effort so I'm a bit worried if I don't start paying attention, I'm going to gain it all back. So this
afternoon I started over on SparkPeople. It helped a lot last time, so I'm going to give it a go again.
Kelly......I'll promise to kick your ass if you promise to kick mine to get back on track.

Meg, that's kind of what happened to me, so you're right to jump back on the wagon now before it's too late! I went off program after Christmas
break and while I wasn't losing any weight, for quite a while I wasn't gaining either. Then I just stopped paying attention altogether and gained it
all back. boo.
I'm glad to see there's still so many of us wanting to keep this thread alive and support each other. It's SO helpful to have friends to report back to! |

Hey Ali, glad you made it back safely from Michigan. Did you have a fun time at the wedding? It's always so hard to come back to a workweek after a busy
weekend!
I'd tutored a little girl all summer and I told her she got to pick something for us to do together as an end of the summer reward. She picked going out for ice cream. So...I thought about having none, but that didn't seem quite right...so I had a small dish and didn't finish it. I know we'll have things like burgers, eggs/sausage, snacks, etc. on our trip, so I am thinking I'll pack some healthier things (carrots, 100 calorie packs, Fiber One Bars, little baggies of crackers, etc.). I biked 21 miles yesterday!! My friend Paula does 20-25 miles every evening so I asked if I could ride with. She's lost over 100 pounds doing that and being SUPER careful about what she eats (she's diabetic). Great inspiration!

Wow! How long did that bike ride take? I just brought my bike down here after an earlier trip home to Michigan this summer. I need to get it oiled up and take
it out.
I think packing healthy snacks for your trip is a great idea. Especially 100 calorie packs and Fiber One bars. When you have an alternative, you're less likely to overeat the bad stuff. The wedding was great! And you're right...it's misery coming back to work. Booooo! |

I've been reading everyone's post the past few days and I'm getting back on the wagon too. I've gained back some of what I lost and need to get it off, and finish what I started. I quit doing WW, because I didn't want to pay for it (had to buy a new car), so I signed up with a program at work called Weigh to go! I think WW is a great program though. This work program gave us a few websites where you can track what you eat for free. I tried this one, and it's similar to WW--adds the calories and
such for you.
20 miles a day of bike riding a day is amazing! I wish I was that motivated! Good for your friend and for you! Ali--when I was living in Lawrence in the mid 90's, it seemed it was a bike riding town! EEEEveryone had a bike. I miss those days...

how has everyone been doing??? this morning sadie (my pudgy beagle) and i went for a little stroll around town. tomorrow starts the new exercise routine--yoga
in the morning and then a long walk in the evening. if i manage to hit my goal of losing 2lbs. a week i should make my goal by April.
brenda......i'm signed up for SparkPeople.com and love it. it's been really helpful with meals, which is what i struggle with, especially with my wonky food allergies.

I might need to try sparkpeople. My budget is getting too tight for WW.
And I need to get motivated again. Perhaps trying a newish plan would help. - Micah

Meg---that's great! My friend here in KC liked that mydailyplate, so I checked that out and have started using it. Those food allergies really make things
difficult. I have problems with artificial sweeteners giving me migraines. It's hard to keep the calories down not being able to use diet food. I gotta get
in an excersise routine as well. I'm just not going to lose weight doing what I'm doing now. Good luck with your goals!
chumped to say---Micah---you should check out those other sites for sure. Since WW has helped you know what you need to do, I think the other sites for free, or much cheaper, would work for you.

Micah, you should spend $2.99 or whatever on the super basic WW Points calculator from the WW online store. You already know your daily points target and how
to work the WW system. You can totally do the WW plan without paying for the online membership. Just track your points in a notebook and use the points
calculator to figure out points for stuff rather than doing it online. Every time you drop a "decade" in your weight (i.e. from the 160s to the
150s), you drop one daily point. Weekly always stay the same. And the activity points, I believe, are just calculated as one AP per 100 calories burned.
It'd be very easy to do WW for free once you've already paid to take the points quiz and gotten used to the system.
I didn't lose or gain last week. Meh. I wasn't eating very well this weekend with my folks in town for a visit. I'm going to try to do better this week. That's all I can do, right? |

My new motto for this whole thing is "never quit quitting!" It's no where near original, but I'm hoping it works.

Doesn't "never quit quitting" mean "always keep quitting?"
And I know I've said it before, but it is so immensely helpful to have you ladies here for support and to keep the focus on losing weight. Thanks for that.

I went for a nice long four-mile walk tonight. At least I figure that's what I walked since I walked for an hour at a pretty quick clip -- I probably
couldn't have conversed with someone without effort. On WW, it's only 3 activity points, but at least it's something. I'm sticking with WW for
a little while longer. I will probably then do what you suggested, Ali -- buy the calculator and just track it on my own. I already do that somewhat, so it
won't be a tough transition.
