I lost about half a pound is all, this week. But better than gaining.
I am not looking for drastic weight loss. Just slow and permanent, is what i am after, and fitness to return to my body.

Isnt it funny how one thing works really well for one person and not for another? I found my time during Weight Watchers to be one of the most depressing of my
life. I felt so restrained all of the time, watching everything that I was eating for points or feeling guilty about wanting something that was higher in
points than other things, it really did my head in.
What I am doing right now is really working for me - and I am going down steadily. I cut out pretty much all of my bread, pasta, refined sugar and white rice, I get a minimum of a half an hour exercise daily and I dont eat after 7pm. I am down a smidge under 10kgs (approx 20 pounds) and am at my lightest weight for at least 10 years. I hit 65ks just before my birthday and I want to be at 60 for Xmas and then eventually down to 55 by Autumn. That will have me back to my ballet weight. It was cool seeing everyone over my birthday weekend and having everyone notice!

That's what I've done too, Shelley! I don't eat any bread, pasta, refined sugar, or white rice - I eat a lot of lean protein, green vegetables,
tomatoes, stuff like that...some fruit - on some occasions I do eat whole grain pasta, but not very often. I feel so much better when I eat those types of
food...I guess it depends on what works well. A really good friend of mine had great success on WW, but my experience was kinda subpar.

I'm glad that your method is working so well for you, Shelley! That's fabulous. And you look fabulous too, I might add.
There are a lot of people who suffer a lot of guilt while on WW, but that really kind of baffles me. I mean, the whole idea is that you CAN eat whatever you want. You just have to learn how to balance it out. I mean, hell, I've been treating myself to Reeces Peanut Butter Cups since the night before Halloween, and they fit in fine on the flex plan as long as I'm not eating an entire bag (like I used to do!). I treat myself to one or two and track them and then move on. For me, that's why I like WW so much. It forces me to plan ahead, be accountable (horrible problem for me in the past) and balance the good and the bad in my diet. Do I still eat crap occasionally? Of course. I try to save most of my flex points for the weekend so I can go out, drink and eat as I please without worrying about points. But as long as those days are only once or twice a week, I still lose. But I agree that it's important to find a system you can live with. And not just on a temporary basis. I personally couldn't give up pasta, bread, refined sugar and white rice for life, so I know that if I tried that, it would work temporarily but then I'd gain my weight back. I'm trying to teach myself to balance the good and bad and eat the appropriate portion size so that I can carry that with me for good.

for me, WW has not been "The Answer," but it is a tool i am using to try to get the big picture...to track what i do. Shelley, I also feel somewhat
restrained. I have to exercise though, and it makes me think about how much exercise i need to do to stay within certain boundaries.

I felt sort of restrained by WW too, but I totally see what Ali is saying...there was no reason for me to feel that way. I think it was just that I constantly
thought about it & it stressed me out. I don't want to feel like I'm dieting at all, and constantly thinking about food & points made me feel
that way.
I still eat everything, meaning I haven't cut out any one thing (white flour or rice or sweets, etc) but I just FEEL better when I don't eat those things. I used to think I felt good when I ate a plate full of pasta, now I realize that what I really feel is tired & bloated. Being in tune with how my body/mind feels after eating certain foods has helped make my decisions on food easier.

I eat to make myself feel good and maintain good health. Most of the time. Sugar is not my problem. I like nuts, which tend to be lots of points, and i use
real butter, not margarine, for health reasons, which is also more points. I will go for awhile without bread but when i DO eat it, i eat organic, usually. I
made organic carrot muffins over the weekend. They were tasty.
My first priority is staying healthy. My second priority is weight/how i look. So if i feel low, or tired, or weak, or whatever, i will try to consume the right fruits, veggies,. or whatever, regardless of points, to get better. Having said that, I think my new goal, 50 pounds in 50 weeks, is much more doable than my previous one, of trying to lose that amount of weight is say, 4 or 5 months. ![]() "The watch is a lot easier to get off and on than a wedding ring." arrster wrote:Yeah! That is what I was trying to say not quite so eloquently! I also found some of these diet companies provide you with FAR too much food. Soem of them dont take into account the size of the person, not the weight of the person. I am only150cm - which is either just on or just under 5ft. Hanny is doing Light And Easy at the moment and if I were to be eating their meal plan I would FOR SURE be gaining weight! There is just way too much food! It has to be said though, she is looking fucking FANTASTIC! We are the amazing, shrinking CPU. Sarzy is down about 70 pounds, I am down 20, Hanny is down a lot and Louisa is a foxy little mofo! My biggest downfall is pasta. Pasta with a side of baguette! HAHA! *dies* I have since switched to having my pasta sauce over brown rice and I like it SOOO much better! I also attribute my winning ways to beans. I pretty much eat some form of bean based meal each day, I cooked up a bean storm for the girls when they were here. If anyone wants any recipes, let me know! VERY high in protien and yummy and VERY low in fat! I allow myself to have one day a fortnight where I cant eat exactly what I want and that is working really well for me. Also I made a deal with myself that every Saturday when I am at the markets I can go to the gourmet chocolate shop and get one truffle or soft centre or small bar. The funny thing is, since I started and have been seeing results, I just dont feel the need for it! But I know its OK if I do want it!

OK! This one is my current favourite - it is SO tasty and it looks really fancy too. I made it for the girls this weekend and even Hanny at a bowl full and she
doesnt even like beans! I had the nutritional/serving info of it somewhere but I seem to have lost it.
Warm Beetroot and Lima Bean Salad (I dont actually use lima beans, I have had trouble finding them here - I just use a tin of butter beans - YUM!) 1 bunch of fresh baby beetroot 1 tin of lima beans/butter beans (I usually use two tins because I like more bean) drained and rinsed 1/4 cup lemon juice Lemon zest to taste 1/2 tbs olive oil 2 to 3 cloves garlic, crushed 2 teaspoons fresh thyme (I had to use dried, it was fine) 100g baby spinach 100g rocket 60g low fat fetta cheese, crumbled Walnuts t garnish (optional) 1. Boil beetroot until tender. Drain, peel and quarter. 2. Place beans, juice, oil, garlic and thyme in a pan & stir over medium heat until warmed through. 3. Divide the greens amongst the plates and top with beetroot. Pour the warm beans and pan juices over the top of the salad and garnish with a crumble of fetta cheese and a few crushed, raw walnuts. YUUUUUUM!

Asian Chickpea Salad
1 tin of chickpeas, drained and rinsed well. sweet chilli sauce lemon juice + zest 1 bunch of corriander (I think you guys call it cilantro? Not the roots, just the leaves) 1 small red capsicum (do you call them peppers?) 1 small green capsicum 1 spanish onion (the red ones) A good handful of Snow peas 1 cup bean sprouts 1. Put well drained beans in a bowl and dress with sweet chilli sauce and lemon juice to taste. 2. Finely julienne the capsicums, onion and snowpeas and stir through bean mix. 3. Mix in the bean sprouts and roughly tear in the corrainder. 4. Serve and die in yummy coma!

Is beetroot something to do with beets? Because I hate beets.

I'm not familiar with beetroot either, Ali, but I do like beets if they are related. I'm a huge fan of chickpeas though. I thought corriander &
cilantro were two different things though. I need to investigate.
I'm down two lbs today on my official weigh-in. Two more & I'm down 50 lbs.

i just found the most brilliant thing ever (keep in mind that i'm a huge dork)...the irish dance fitness plan. i'm no professional, but this makes me really excited plus Aoibhneas an Rince
(my irish dance school) takes a 5 week break for the holidays and this would be a perfect way to strengthen my weak ankle, stay in the mindset and not forget
everything. now if only the video wasn't out of stock/backordered/only available in the UK. boo.
