Nope Ali they can't. One of my friends went to Brigham and RA's would check dorm rooms everyone once in a while to see if all the movies they had were
PG-13 and under.

Wtf! That's insanity. And a really fucking stupid rule for adults. I can understand the whole concept of younger people not watching them, but I'm
pretty sure once you're married and have kids that you know what's going on enough to enjoy an R movie. I bet she'd watch it anyway.

When I was in college a group of guys (Mormons) lived across the hall from me on their mission. I successfully managed to get 1 guy sent home early.
And back to Twilight.......I'm about halfway through Breaking Dawn. Bella is getting on my last nerve, Edward is breaking my heart and Jacob is starting to redeem himself.

Bella is very frustrating during the early/mid parts of that book. She'll redeem herself, don't worry.

yea, she kinda redeems herself. however, i still hate that she is in love with two guys. not just in love with them both, but making them both miserable!
and i'm getting sick of the whole damsel in distress bit. she's reminding me of peyton from one tree hill in earlier seasons. when everyone had to keep saving her. haha. i finished the "Jacob" part of Breaking Dawn. i started the "bella" part last night. not much, maybe a chapter. i loved the difference in chapter titles during jacob's part.

We have a LDS college in our hometown, so the dynamic in our area has changed greatly over the last 10 years, since they took ownership of the college. Mostly
in a good way though. Less swearing, less drinking, more community service. But yes, the president came down to the video store I worked at & tried to get
us to put notes on all the student accounts that they were not to rent R rated movies. We basically told him that they were adults & we couldn't (and
wouldn't) stop them from renting anything. Some broke the rules, but most didn't. From what I hear about Stephenie, she is pretty faithful, so I'm
betting she wouldn't watch it. Haha!
Sorry, this wasn't really meant to turn this into the Mormon discussion thread. It's just a big part of who she is, so I figured it was relevant. I still haven't read The Host either. I guess I should. I bought it when it came out & thought about reading it but haven't even looked at it in months. I love Jacob's chapter titles too. So funny!

The Jacob chapters are so great because they are SO him. But Jo, keep reading. Trust me. Bella will fully redeem herself. Trust.
Kelly, that's so interesting. Every time I learn something new about mormons, it only serves to intrigue me more. |

I would have torn out chunks of hair by now, Jo. True story. There was nothing (including work) that could keep me from those books when I was in the heart of
the obsession.

I am hating The Host and I actually think I am going to stop reading it. I've been reading for 3 days and I seriously haven't gotten past page 25.
I'm not interested in the story at all and I keep trying to get into it but I end up reading a page or two and then going back and rereading the page or
two that i just read because i lost interest and then i just give up and put the book down. So yea it's not so promising.

New Moon doesn't come out until November. Haha. Twilight is the original swine flu, man. The obsession spreads rapidly.

true.
and he said he's going to be Edward for halloween. he is constantly teasing ericka. he always calls her his bella. and he talks about longing to be with her. wanting her more than wanting to live...meanwhile, fighting his carnal desires. kids.

Ok, I haven't read any posts because I wanted to be a Twilight Virgin. I have to confess straight away, I cheated. I watched the DVD first. I had the book,
but didn't think much of it. So I watched the movie and um, yeah. Cute for the kids I guess but I didn't get the whole INTENSITY of this Twilight
thing. Sooo, read the book.
First of all what. the. hell? If you read The Other Boelyn Sister and then watched the movie you might have had the same reaction to Twilight. There is so much more between Edward and Bella in the book eh? EH? So yeah, I could see why the movie might be a bit "off" to those who read the book first. I don't remember a big meadow scene or any history on the Cullen family and things were played out in completely different settings than in the book. It would be nice to have had more character development from the other Cullen kids. And um, Edward and Bella go from hate to OMG I LOVE YOU! like a 11 year old might to JM after listening to YBIAW. At any rate, just my opinion. I liked the book, but didn't love it. I can see why you younger people like it. I'm a crusty bitch so you know...I mostly wanted to smack him to get him mad so that he could BITE ME! |

My neice filled me in. She's read them all. Apparently they....heee...ok, I'm a loser and you probably have already read them all...
Ok, I'll see if I can get my hands on the next one. It's filming in Vancouver right? I'm going to bust onto the set and get close ups of Robert Pattison for Frelly. We both agree he's legal. She finds him yummy. I want to teach him how to comb his hair and stand up straight. So yeah Ali I will read New Moon and report back with my findings! |
