I'm doing "YOU on a diet" this book by Dr. Oz. He was on Oprah. Its more just telling you how to eat right then it is a crazy crash diet. It wants you to walk 10,000 steps a day. Its been a week and I feel better, clearly no major physical changes just yet. I'm really worried about this week though. I'm going to Boston and NYC so I wont be cooking for myself. Lets hope I can keep the will power up with all that amazing food in those cities!

Meg - I was thinking about doing one of these again. I liked the other one.
Um, tips? I don't have any because I've been BAD this past week. However, if you count your fat and calories, this is a great website to use www.dwlz.com (click the restaurant section). It has most every major Restaurant's menu in the country with fat/carb/calorie and if you do Weight Watchers it has their points. Luvs it!! ~Becky

Even for as long as its been around I still think Weight Watchers is the best......or it is what I have had the most success with.

*ugh* i'm fuming right now on the weight loss front. My friend and I joined a gym together and vowed to go with one another at least 3 times a week. She just got a new boyfriend (la de fucking da) and she consistantly bails on me. And to do things like eat out at UNO pizzeria for christ's sake. I've managed to get there 3 times a week, but it's frustrating to get ditched for a lame boy all the time. She needs this worse than I do, damn it.

I got $71.50 today for losing 12lbs!!
We had a weightloss group at work and our company put in $30 into a pot for each person who joined.......whoever hit the goal split the money. It came just in time for some major after-Thanksgiving shopping!!

It's very clich to say this, but you have to stay focused. More importantly: motivated. Everyone has "their way" of staying motivated.
I race mountain bikes. I will be running in the Austin Marathon in February. Next summer I will be doing three mountaining biking series: Wisconsin XC, Minnesota XC, and Wisconsin 12-hour endurance. The Chicago Marathon and Ironman Wisconsin will top off my events for the year. Nutrition is huge. I have a daily checklist of all the things I need to eat/drink. I'm a visual person (I'm sure most of you are as well) so it's good to keep track and not "cheat" myself. I include all the bad things as well, i.e. soda/pop/whatever, ice cream. I do that with my workouts too. Since I work all the damn time I measure my workouts in time, not distance. I will work up to distance workouts later in the off-season. Just try charting out what you eat. And exercising doesn't mean you have to go out for a 30 minute run. Walk for 5 minutes. Little by little... it all adds up. my VO2 max is bigger than yours

I have to give it to Weight Watchers. It's helped our entire family shape up. We eat totally healthy because we want to now.
I am horrible about working out, though. I walk whenever I can, and go to the gym not nearly as often as I could (ave 2-3 times/wk). I HATE winter because I'm not as active as I am in the summer, and I tend to hide behind big, bulky clothes. Gotta give some credit to the slinky camis that are oh-so-cute in hot weather that give incentive to work out. Trista

Trista.....I suck at doing anything in the winter work-out wise. I am all about coming homes, hunkering down with a book or movie and giant cup of hot chocolate.

Instead of eating at lunchtime at work, I get my MP3 and go for an hour walk.

winter does suck. i think my biggest problem is that the days are so short, and i'm not keen on working out or running when it's dark outside. and when i get home from work, and it's pitch black, i just want to throw my pjs on and not leave.
excuses i know. what i really need is a workout buddy. competition shapes me up in no time. be young, have fun, taste jill. |

I've seen Carmen Electra's dvds but haven't bought one yet. They look like they'd be alot of fun. I have picked up a couple bellydancing workout videos. I'm thankful that my closest neighbor is nearing a half mile away when I am using one of those for my daily workout.

I use the "Walk Away the Pounds" videos though that Carmen video might be added to my collection. It looks really fun and has a dual purpose. Anywho, WATPs and Duran Duran's "Astronaut" cd helped me loose 42 lbs this year. In another 3lbs I will have lost 70lbs in a little over 2 years.

Re: Working Out and Losing Weight | ||

I keep thinking that if I could get a pole installed in my house, I could lose a lot of weight. Maybe in my bedroom. Wait, then guests couldn't use it.
Please remember to wipe the pole down before and after you use it. That is what professional strippers do. ![]() |
