I would like to check in and say, that when I weighed at work today, I had gained 4 pounds from last week. Which SUX.
However, the last 3 days, including today, I walked 45 minutes to an hour each day. Okay, Carry on. ![]() "The watch is a lot easier to get off and on than a wedding ring." John Mayer, In Style Magazine, Aug. 2006. |

I gained 2 lbs last week. Boo! I will be going to the gym tomorrow though.
I've been slacking off of the gym scene lately. I need to be there but work has been keeping me too late. I need to talk to the boss about this. It's not a good excuse for a fat butt. If I lose 10 more lbs I will be at my 1st BIG weight loss goal. Then 30 more lbs and I'll be really happy at my main weight loss goal. If I lose more than that I'll just be jumping with my skinny self. So far, I've lost 45 Lbs. to this point. It's been almost a year. I need a gym buddy!!!! ![]() |

I was just saying on another thread that I lost 5lbs last week...with Thanksgiving dinner. I do "Walk Away the Pounds...2miles" and Pilates. It's working wonders. I'm also not eating a thing after dinner...no calories in my body at all. And I try to stick to 1000 cal a day. It is low but it's working and it's not that bad. I've gained 20lbs over the last few months and it must, must, must come off. Now I only have 15 more to go and I will be soooo purty!

Aww, thanks Jewel. I try. Of course I only post the pictures I look good in because I'm the least photogenic person I know. I don't know why but I always look like crap in pictures. My friends and family laugh when they see my pictures because I look like Marty Feldman...anyone know who that is?

I haven't changed my eating habits (I just can't do it), but I do workout 3-4 times a week. I have been going to Curves for a year now and have lost (at last count) 7 lbs. and 21 inches. I know the weightloss isn't impressive, but the inch-loss speaks volumes. I'm definitely toning. I've dropped a pants size and am getting closer to being comfortable with the way I look from the shoulders down. I absolutely love working out at Curves. The constant rotation keeps me from getting bored, the staff is awesome and it's become a great source of stress relief.

My sister did Curves for a couple months.. I noticed her looking better and better each day! Since I moved down to FL I gained 60lbs in a year. No bueno. This is the most I have ever weighed in my life and I hate it sooooo much. I've started going on walks at the beach every other night, and it seems to be helping. I'll be getting in to a gym once we have a little bit of money lying around for that sort of thing.

Yeah, gym (or Curves) membership can be pricey. The hardest part with Curves was the initial fee - $150. But, my former boss gave it to me for Christmas. It was the nicest thing she did for me. I mean, she was constantly telling me how fat I was, so I guess this was her way of really sticking it to me. But...I actually like going. So I guess I stuck it to her. Ha ha.

Re: Working Out and Losing Weight

so i have been doing horrendously and staying on top of working out, but in my defense, thanksgiving, getting sick, and finals have thrown a wrench into things.
however i just saw a picture of myself from about two years ago, and holy hell i want to look like that again. i gained at least 25 lbs in italy (i say at least because i never weighed myself while i was there, and i weighed myself a month after coming home when i had already started to lose a lot of weight and i was still 25 lbs over what i was when i left) and i think i am finally almost down to what i was before i left. unfortunately all the leftover weight is on my stomach which is the hardest to get rid of. i know i will work out while im in hawaii though because i go for swims every morning. plus my mom has become a workout fiend since i moved out, so i will have someone to do crunches and whatnot with. yay for working out with mom. we've already agreed to keep ourselves in check as far as eating shitty foods, which is always the biggest problem on vacations. i think next semester im going to take some sort of exercise class on campus, it will make it way easier to stay on top of things. -Marianne

That sounds like a plan, Marianne. But I think you look hott anyway. And I mean that in a completely non-lesbian way.
They're starting a pilates class at the local community center. It's $40, but I'm thinking about joining...just for some extra fitness. I dunno. ![]() |

Oh gosh, I have about 10 pictures of me next to the computer from when I was, well.. I wouldn't call it skinny, but definitely not the weight that I'm at now.. And I'd give anything to be back to that weight. There's a building at my school that has about 10 flights of stairs outside that my fiance and I have started walking up/down every other day. Damn my legs hurt lol. I wish I could wake up and be skinny overnight. That would be the best. I hate how I am now.

This winter I have decided to give all the "winter sports" a try. A guy I work with is determined to take me snowboarding, so as long as I don't kill myself doing that, I am going to give snow shoeing a try. I also pulled out my cross country skiies for the first time since I was in high school. I loved hiking in the woods behind my house this fall, so I'm hoping these options will end up to be just as appealing.

Re: Working Out and Losing Weight

Okay, I thought I was losing but of course I was wrong. It's seems I have some thyroiditis. It sounds like a made up name but is a type of under active thyroid thing. Anyway in the last 6 months it would appear that I have gained 35 pounds. So I have been working my little butt off and dieting...starving and well, my body is working against me. So, now I'm on meds and my body should work with me now. But here is my dilema. I need to lose like 45lbs by the end of Feb. My best friend is getting married and I'm supposed to sing at the wedding. She bought this most ridiculously expensive custom made dress for me and it is no way gonna fit, even though it's not my fault. Does anyone have a clue how or "if" I can lose that much weight by then? I will take all advice!

Re: Working Out and Losing Weight

Kim, 25lbs in 2 months is possible (I lost that much in 2 months) but 45lbs is too much weight to loose that fast and it's not healthy. I've lost 45lbs this year and the first 10lbs took months, of course I wasn't exercising then. When I limited my calories to 1200 and my fat to 30 grams and exercised b/t 20 to 60 mins every single day I lost 25lbs in 2 months. A food diary has helped me continue to loose weight as well as maintain my weight. If you go about weight lose healthy you're more likely to keep it off.

Re: Working Out and Losing Weight

I really want and need to lose weight. I gained 25 pounds (and that's being generous) in college. I don't think I ate a vegetable in four years- minus the mushrooms on my pizza and the celery in my blood mary's. The only exercise I ever got was walking to class or walking to the bars. I just scream healthy, don't I?!?! I wish I would have taken advantage of the exercise classes they offered during college, they didn't cost extra to take and you earned a couple credits.
Since college, I've lost fifteen pounds but I can't seem to lose much more. I'm guessing its because I don't work out much. I just don't have the time! Plus I hate working out, I'm so lazy. I work long hours, have a long commute and by the end of the day all I want to do is watch tv. I'm thinking about trying to work out during my lunch hour. I hate running, but don't mind pilates or yoga. Also, I live in Wisconsin so its too cold and icy to do anything outside. Anyone have any work out suggestions? Or suggestions toward motivating my lazy self? -Wenona |

...I was observing last night that I look rounder than usual, which disgusts me.
Therefore, I believe this is the thread to declare that I am officially going on a fitness kick. And my first mission is to get those Carmen stripper dvd's lol...I kind of want a pole too but you know I don't think my scholarship will fund a stripper pole. I don't think eating less or healthier will really matter since even if I eat like a rabbit I still maintain my rolly-polly figure...plus I don't eat much anyways. So it is e.x.e.r.c.i.s.e for me wish me luck... *goes off for a jog* |

Micah, you should try pilates! I've been doing a class at the Y since October and I really like it. The instructor is so cool - she's lost 75 pounds since January doing pilates and walking (although now she runs and lifts weights, too). Seriously she's like a size 0. I made her bring in "before" pictures because I couldn't believe it.
I've noticed that it really helps to tone. I am so excited for Feb. You must come the whole weekend.Melissa (I know my sig is outdated now) ![]() |

Melissa -- I have a pilates DVD that I'm thinking of adding to my Curves routine. I go to Curves 3-4 times a week, but I'm thinking of doing pilates on the days I can't get to Curves (usually Tuesdays and Sundays...and sometimes Mondays). I will definitely consider it. And I am planning on coming for the majority of the weekend. Haven't decided yet if I'll drive out Friday or Saturday. Depends on how work goes and how long I'm willing to leave the kitties. (I'm a nervous kitty mom.) I'm planning on staying Sunday night and leaving when you go to work. Sound good to you? Of course, we can talk more as it gets closer. I can't wait!!

I'm starting the South Beach Diet with my fiance next month. Not as a New Years Resolution.. It's just a new month, and I need to start.. And it just happens to be New Years Day. So this thread seems to be the perfect place to keep everyone who is not interested, updated on my weight loss. Or lack there of. I'll let you all know how it goes.
I have a list of foods I can eat, and actually want to eat. And I've also made a list of meals that I can eat. So I'll keep an eye on that if I ever need help making up my mind of what to eat for dinner. || Melinda
