I'll weigh in tomorrow morning, but I'm pretty sure I'll either have gained or maintained this week since I wasn't tracking and definitely indulged whilst at home. Gotta start working hard since I only have a month til Florida!

Yay for Shelley and Jelly (I love how that rhymes)!! Ha ha :-)
I didn't lose this week. Or gain. I stayed even. Which is surprising given the holiday and then a mongolian grill Saturday night (so goood!!!). I will probably gain some water weight this week because of my cycle though. I'm totally prepared for it. - Micah

I weighed in this morning and the damage was negligible. I only gained 0.8 lbs. After the gorging I did this past week, I'm stoked about that. I was
expecting at least a 1.5-2 lb gain. Woot!

Here's a recipe for an awesome salad-type dish that my grandma has been making for years. I took it to Andy's family Thanksgiving (25+ people!) and got
raves over it, with a lot of people asking me to send them the recipe. Very low in calories/fat/points.
White Corn & Baby Pea Salad 1 - 16 oz. Pkg. Frozen White Shoe Peg Corn, thawed (do NOT substitute regular corn!!) 1 - 16 oz. Pkg. Frozen Baby Peas, thawed 1 - cup chopped, peeled Jicama (chop to size of baby peas) 2/3 - cup chopped Celery (chop to size of baby peas) 1/2 - cup thinly sliced green onion 1/4 - cup chopped Red and/or Orange Sweet Pepper 1/2 - cup seasoned Rice Vinegar 2 - Tbsp. Brown Sugar 1 - Tbsp. snipped fresh Parsley 1/2 - tsp. Sea salt 1/4 - tsp. Ground White Pepper 1 - Tbsp. snipped fresh Mint (snipped to size of baby peas) In a large mixing bowl combine corn, peas, jicama, celery, green onion and sweet pepper. For dressing, use a screw top jar; combine vinegar, brown sugar, parsley, salt & white pepper. Cover and shake well. Pour over salad, gently toss to coat all chopped veggies & peas + corn. Stir in the fresh Mint. Cover and chill up to 2 hours prior to serving. Makes 10 to 12 servings. Nutrition info per serving: 90 cal., 0g total fat and chol., 151mg sodium, 21g carb., 2g fiber, 4g protein. 1 WW point per serving. Jen, can you forward this on to your cousin for her WW recipe blog? |

Well WW has just revamped its plans and combined them into one new, integrated plan called the "Momentum Plan." No more flex and core. Though, if you
really read through the materials, it appears there are still two options to follow, both of which track the old flex and core styles. Best change
that I can see is that you can now bank your activity points to use any time during the week, rather than only on the day you earn them. That's huge. Also,
they have a "SetPoints" concept now, where if you want to eat more of a certain item (only some items are "setpoints" items), you can just
use the "setpoints" value rather than add up multiple portion sizes. So for example, let's say chicken is a set points item (not sure if it is or
not). If you have 3 oz of chicken, you would track whatever the point value is of that 3 oz (let's say it's 3 points---no clue if it is, just for
example). If you are still hungry, you could continue to eat more chicken until you feel full, and intead of adding up all of the multiple oz you just ate, you
could track the "setpoints" value, which we'll just say is 5 points (no clue if that's right, just example). So it allows for a little bit of
flexibility. It'll be nice for restaurants too, so that you don't have to try to guess exactly how much of something you're eating in order to
track. Instead, you can use the setpoints value and eat until you're full. Though you have to be careful not to overeat...I could see it leading to some
problems. But I like the concept.
Ok, rambling. Sorry. |

I saw that it was a new plan when i logged on today, i just didn't go into the details.. Thanks for posting that.
Best change that I can see is that you can now bank your activity points to use any time during the week, rather than only on the day you earn them. That's huge. I agree wholeheartedly. I never thought that was fair, to only allow them to count on THAT day. In the past, they had allowed them to count through the week, then they took that away, now it is back, thankfully. ![]() "The watch is a lot easier to get off and on than a wedding ring." Yeah, definitely more incentive to work out. You could realistically double your weekly flex points and then blow them ALL in one sitting at a big party or
dinner or something (see: Christmas dinner). Another cool new feature: any kind of beverage counts toward your daily intake. I think you still have to make
half of your "water" be real water, but beyond that, you can now count caffienated beverages, which you couldn't before. Wheee!

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how great this place is! I have been surfing the internet the last hour or so, looking for a good recipe to take with me to a
vegetarian dinner party on Sunday. It needed to be something other than the standard broccoli casserole & I didn't really want it to be loaded with
fat. I wasn't finding anything that really stood out to me. I come on here & see that Ali has posted the perfect recipe for me. Score! The only problem
I forsee could be finding the seasoned rice vinegar...my local grocery store sucks. Perhaps the jicama too, but I'm sure if I make a trip to the good
grocery store in the next town over, they will have both of those items...I just have to find the time to get over there.

i suppose i should be happy that didn't gain anything over the holiday, but i've not lost anything in what seem to be WEEKS. i think i am going to sign
back up at my own gym. because i am technically a student until the end of the month, it will only cost me $10 a month in membership fees. i could save the
money and just use the gym at the resort, but i have a feeling they are going to be super strict when it comes to employee use and i'd like to be able to
workout whenever i wanted to and not when there aren't any guests around.

To be honest, Kelly, the jicama is what makes the salad. I would have no suggestions for a substitute. Definitely try Whole Foods. Or maybe try calling around
to different stores before checking so you can save some driving. I pronounce it (I believe correctly) "hi-ki-mah" but I know some folks call it
"Ji-MA-kah." So make sure to spell it out to whoever you're speaking with.

I read up on it it last night...apparently it is a very South American/Mexican plant. Therefore, named by people who mostly speak Spanish...in which case the
correct pronunciation would be hee-cah-mah. Much closer to the way you say it (which is consequently the way I've always said it...thanks Rachel Ray) than
the folks that call it Ji-MA-kah. I'll try whole foods in a while & update.

No dice. The whole foods market guy said that he could get it but, he never sells it when he gets it so he quit ordering it. Boo. Guess it's back to the
drawing board for me. I could probably get it in Roanoke or something like that, but I just have no time between now & Sunday to drive an hour out of the
way for that.

Since our Florida trip is coming up in less than a month, I decided to try on my shorts (the ones that were skin tight all summer) to see how they fit. OH YEAH
THEY FIGHT LOOSELY!!! As in the way they're meant to fit!! So uber-stoked about that!
