Great job Ali!!! And that's great news about the shorts! I had a similar experience with some shorts recently myself. Maybe I'll be wearing shorts this
summer, for the first time in many, many years.
I wound up fixing a vegetarian shepherds pie, which was completely fabulous & went over very big. I'll post the recipe later, if you guys are interested.

I'm definitely interested! I love shephards pie!!
I have a couple pairs of shorts that go down to just past my knees--the longer style. I'm in love with them. They hide all of the parts of my legs that I hate. |

Very Veggie Shepherds Pie
Roasted Garlic Mash Potato Topping: 1 bulb garlic 1/2 tsp. olive oil 2 1/2 lbs. russet potatoes 1/3 cup soy milk 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper Portabella Boca Base: 1 Tbsp. olive oil 1 medium onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic 1 lb. baby portabella mushrooms, sliced 8 oz. boca burger crumbles (optional) 1 cup baby carrots 2 stalks celery, chopped 3/4 cup vegetable broth, divided 1 tsp. soy sauce 2 Tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 2 Tbsp. flour 1 cup frozen peas Directions: Roasted Garlic Mashed Potato Topping: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut off about 1/8" at root of unpeeled garlic bulb. Keeping the shape of garlic bulb lay it on a peice of aluminum foil, or place in a garlic roasting dish. Drizzle with 1/2 tsp olive oil. Wrap completely in foil (or cover dish) and bake for 50 minutes. Remove from ovel and let cool. Meanwhile, peel potatoes and slice into 1/2" rounds. Put potatoes into an 8 quart stock pot. Cover with water & boil for 15 minutes, or until potatoes are soft throughout, and drain. In a large mixing bowl, or in stock pot, add soy milk to potatoes. Puree potatoes using an electric hand mixer. Once garlic has cooled enough to handle, squeeze each roasted clove into potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt & 1/4 tsp black pepper and mix well. Portabella Boca Base: Heat oil in a large saucepan or stockpot. Saute onion over medium-low heat for 3 minutes. Using a garlic press, crush 2 cloves of garlic directly into pot. Stir in mushrooms, cover & cook for 5 minutes. Add boca burger crumbles (if using), baby carrots, & celery. Stir in 1/2 cup vegetable broth, reserving remaining 1/4 cup for later. Add soy sauce, fresh rosemary, salt & pepper. Cover & cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. In a small mixing bowl, slowly add remaining 1/4 cup broth to flour. Add to mushroom mixture & cook to thicken. Finally, stir in frozen peas. Assembling the Shepherds Pie: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a casserole dish or an 11x8" baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Pour portabella boca base into dish. Spread roasted garlic mashed potatoes on top. Smooth out potato topping or "rake" with a fork to create an interesting presentation. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes. It was sort of time consuming, but not at all hard to make. I actually made the potatoes the day before & just pulled them out of the fridge & put them on top in the end. If you like cooking, it's a fun & rewarding dish to make. I didn't use the Boca crumbles, just because I've never cooked with them before & wasn't sure about them. I've been assured by my vegetarian friends that it would be a fine addition, but was by no means necessary to make the dish good.

I was wondering if anyone has tried P90 workout DVDs. I'm about to start them and I was hoping to hear some positive things about it. A girl that I go to
church with swears by these DVDs.

i've never heard of those DVDs, sorry.
i had to quit irish dance because of my knee and ankle, but i'm still going to the gym because chances are i'll need surgery and not be able to do anything for a while. i've lost a couple of pounds lately, but it's all come from my waist so people at my office have been starting to ask me if i'm lost weight. looove it! and what is with guys hitting on you when you're at the gym? it irks me sooo much. and i'm not pretty when i work out, i mean i really bust my ass and sweat and i don't want anyone trying to chat me up. that's not why i'm there! |

I find having my earphones and iPod on while I work out cuts down on the dudes trying to chat you up. You can pretend you didn't hear them. And you can
avoid eye contact so that usually takes care of that.

I have become friends with the dudes that hit on me at the gym. We have lots of fun together. Plus they put weights on and off the bars for me. I feel like
a queen with those huge feather fans. And I've lost 22 pounds hanging out with them because they have me do different free weight exercises that I
don't normally do.

Nice strategy, Gret! Plus, who doesn't want to go work out hard when you've got cute boys to work out with?

Maybe I should apply Gret's strategy. I like that.

I tried out my new Jillian Michaels program for Wii this morning and holy shit was it ever an intense workout! Much better than Wii Fit. I earned 3 Activity
Points before I showered and headed into the office this morning!

You should get a Wii, Jewel. They're fabulous. Especially when you're not working.

it is BECAUSE i am not working i should not get one.
But out of curiosity, does Wii have to be connected to the internet? I have DSL and the line is
nowhere near the TV. Or can it go wireless? I do have a wireless router.
Okay, does anyone know WHY I have added my activity points for today, but they aren't applying to my points for the day? I had plenty of points if my activity would have counted but now it is pulling from my weekly bonus points. I don't want that. I have saved, updated, closed the window, reopened, and it's like, even though my activity is there, it's not being added to available points. I have never seen it do that before. ![]() "The watch is a lot easier to get off and on than a wedding ring." John Mayer, In Style Magazine, Aug. 2006. |
